Lot's of "GOOD PEOPLE" here, always helpful, it's a web site that actually "WORKS" ! and there's NEVER a "STUPID" Question, just solid reliable answers, it's the best "think tank" on the web !

Thanks folks.

The admins work hard around here but don't forget, the members make a site what it really is.

We appreciate everyone on this site.

Hey Joe, Mike and Tom,

Congratulations on 12,000 !!!

I've been a member about a year, and have found WhalerCentral a fantastic resource. Who had the original idea for the site? Was it a group idea? When did it start? How long did it take to get your first thousand members and how long do you think it will take to get to 25,000?

Thanks again,

Norm and crew

Good questions Norm and crew.

Mike and I both had our own websites.
Mike had started the "OEM Parts Photos" on his site and I started the "Drawings Downloads" on my site.

In April of 2005, Mike contacted me and asked if I was interested in getting together and starting a new site. At that time we really didn't think we were going to use the forum section but we realized if we didn't use it, there wouldn't be a way of members asking questions about the part photos or drawings.

Here is Mike's first post on 3/30/05

And here is my first post on 3/20/05

Not sure how long it took for the first 1,000 but it took awhile for people to find the site.
After that, the site really took off as you can see.
Take a look at this post for some of the history.

We have had several Moderators that have helped us out in the past with their great knowledge of Boston Whaler boats.
This site can take up a lot of an admins or moderators time so we appreciate all the help they volunteer to provide.
At this time, Tom is the only moderator we have but others may come back or new ones may show up in the future.
Phil Tyson and Jeff Rohlfing have helped us out a lot in the past but either ran out of time or moved on to other pastures.

And of course, we always have the resident members to help everyone else out. Members helping members and sharing their expertise and experiences with their Boston Whalers. That's what this site is all about. Sharing...

Thanks again to everyone.

Well,
Seems like a big round number for the membership.
Has the odometer just ran to these digits or is there the possibility of a "Special" something coming through down the pipe here?
A special goody feature maybe?
An unveiling of a promotion?
The thread and picture of a BIG CAKE with so many candles?
Just mentioning these thoughts for the fun of a possible continuation regarding this landmark.
Can't forget to have some fun with it..:P

Congrats Joe & Mike and thanks for sharing the history of the site.
You created a friendly site and that is not so easy to do.
