I built the pulpit from the drawing you sent. Would you cut a hole in the end and put a roller on top or under, or would you buy an anchor roller assembly and mount it on top? How did whaler do it?

The original had the notch cutout in the end of the pulpit.

I would, and did, use the Windline URM-2 anchor roller mount and did NOT cut the notch in the pulpit. Several other people prefer the URM-2 mount over the original style.

The attachment below shows the Windline mount.
The bow bitt in the photo should actually be an 8 inch Wilcox cleat.

Joe, I have a '89 18 Outrage that I intend to install a Bow Pulpit On. I've searched extensively here and at Continuous Wave for Insight into this process. I Figured that I'd better just come to you. My first question of many is in regard to the Bow Bitt, My existing Bow Bitt has the Chafe lip which will not work on top of a Bow Pulpit. Can you point me in the right direction to locate a replacement that will use the same Hole pattern with a flat base that will sit correctly on the Pulpit? Thanks In advance and Merry Christmas!

Eric

md_sailor,

I would NOT cut the Chafe Lip off.
The standard bow pulpit used the same type of Marinium cleat as the stern uses under the gunwale.

I would use the cleat below and save your Bow Bitt....

Here is what JJS used on the pulpit I traded him and this same cleat is used on the original pulpits.
