Hey guys, I am planning on a repower of my 1974 non smirked 16/17 montauk. I am planning on re powering with a Yamaha f70la. Previous motor is a mercury so I need all new Yamaha Components and rigging. I know pricing and availability of motors has been an issue. First quote I received is $14,500 from a Yamaha premier dealer. Let me know what you think with the current market and pricing. Still awaiting more quotes. See attached pic. Thanks.

The F70 has been in high demand so it gets a premium price but it reads high.

What are the detailed line items from the quote? If there is no line item pricing, go back and have them write one up.

What are they showing for:

Engine
Binnacle (Premium Single -Chrome)
Harness
Key Switch (Single Main Engine and Stop Switch Panel)
Throttle/shift Cables
RPM Gauge
Rigging Grommet/hose
Make/Model and size of prop

What is the # of hours to derrig/install?
What is the trade in value of your engine shown as?
What is the sales tax for NJ?

Report back.

I finally picked up my Yamaha F70 and started the break in procedure. Moved my battery to the console during this process as well. Followed all the guidance from this site on mounting height, prop etc and could not be happier. Feels like an entirely new boat handles better and sits much better in the water after getting that heavy Merc off the stern. Very happy that I went with the 70 vs the 90 as well for the weight savings. It was the right choice. Thank you all for the help.
