New to me 160 SS with 90HP 4 stroke Mercury outboard. I'm in North Carolina where during the winter it gets below freezing on some nights but goes back to warmer fishing weather during the day. Do I need to pull the boat each night it is supposed to go below freezing to avoid engine damage or can I leave in the water. If I leave in the water, will lowering the engine to the down position drain water in the engine in order not to freeze?

It will be fine.

You don't need to leave the engine down. We only leave the engine down
when we get solid ice at the dock or many days of single digits in the day and - at night. Saves having to break through it then.
