Verify the existing bolt holes in the transom are the standard spacing.

Some dealers did not follow a standard hole layout.

The top bolt holes should be 1-7/8" down from the top. The lower can be any of the ones indicated in this diagram EXCEPT for the blind holes.

Once you verified the hole spacing, you will want to mount the new engine so the top bolts are in the 3rd hole down from the top and the lower holes in the middle of the slot or middle hole (some Mercury engines dont have lower slots.)

Also you will want a quality stainless steel prop. Do not waste your money on a new engine and install an aluminum prop.
