Does anyone have an idea as to how to put hinges or supports on the large deck hatch directly in front of the forward console seat? The 2 smaller hatches on each side and the anchor locker in front of this hatch are hinged. This hatch cover does have a pull to open but it is so bulky and heavy it is almost useless. I would like to be able to open it without it falling on the deck or me. What do you guys store in there?

Add a gas strut on the hinged side of the hatch.

This hatch has no hinges on any side. It just pulls up and out. Just so I am clear, putting a gas shock inside the compartment on one side would hold the hatch up? Do you think 1 gas shock would do it? Any recommendation on length of shock:

This is the hatch for the fishwell?

Have you considered adding hinges?

Thats it. I thought about hinges but not sure if there is enough room on the edge for a 2/3 short side hinge. What would be your idea for hinge location

To size the strut, review this how-to.

Thanks. Saw article by Boat Mag. discussing same thing. Your boat doesnt appear to have hinges? Does it have strut?

Sorry, not my boat. Pulled that off the web to verify the correct hatch.
