Hey Everyone
I have a 1988 13' Super Sport with 1988 Yamaha 30ELG
Here are the symptoms, which have been repeatable on the water or in the driveway with hose cooling
Engine starts immediately and runs beautifully until about minute 35
At that point it simply dies.
Restart is easy and the motor again runs well for another 5 minutes then dies again
Restarting is not so easy this time
Motor will run fine but will die after 2 minutes
Restarting is now difficult and running is rough.
Motor will die within a minute or two and restating is almost impossible.
Here's what I've done
Rebuilt the carbs (many times this year)
Replaced the CDI unit twice with new. I did this as the folks at CDI Industries told me the symptoms suggested a faulty CDI unit or a bad stator. I tested the stator and found 221.5 Ohms at appx 80 degrees F. With this info, CDI gave me an RA and I replaced again to no avail! Symptoms still persist
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

While it reads as a thermal condition, it is worth eliminating a few easy items.

Replace the fuel hose and bulb.
Run on a different portable tank using fresh gas.

Report back.

And your local Yamaha authorized and trained tech said what when you described the problem?
