Considering the purchase of a 2014 Montauk 170. While inspecting the boat, I removed the access panels on each side of the stern's live well. Discovered a quarter inch of wet sand lining the bilge floor. Then checked out the hull. At a through-hull fitting, bottom stern bottom, a stick was lodged in the opening. Wondering if this boat didn't run aground and the bilge pulled in the sand and stick. What I found surprised the salesman, but he didn't think this was a big deal. Seems like red-flag issues to me, but would appreciate feedback. Thanks.

THAT is a RED FLAG!

Is the through hull compromised? Would really need to see photos to ascertain if it is just debris or water ingress into the hull.

The fact there is sand in the aft spaces speaks of the lack of inspection/care by dealer. They should have cleaned it up pre-sale.

I would find another candidate.

Perhaps another dealer, as well.
