Hi Thomsal:

I saw the same photographs of the Boston Whaler 21 Ribside teak console pieces. The console top was removed from the boat and the console was disassembled. I have restored and finished many Boston Whaler consoles. I agree with you the best measure is to remove the console from the boat to refinish the wood. You do not want sanding dust and varnish to contaminate the cockpit of your classic Ribside 21. I do not think you need to dissassemble the teak console top like Steven William did and showed in the photographs he posted on another website. Maybe he had some structural issues to address with the console top. I don't know.

Be sure to include in your postings the year of your vessel. Please post some photographs here of your Ribside 21 teak console and we will be certain to give you a factually correct impression of what we see, so that you do not waste your time or effort doing something that really did not need to be done.

There is a Whaler Central Member, Finnegan, an expert on the restoration of the Ribside 21 Teak console. No one has better looking finished varnished Ribside 21 teak consoles.

Maybe you have seen photographs of his Ribside boats?
