Looking to swap my 2020 90 Yamaha vmax SHO 353lbs from my Montauk 17’ to a 15’ Super Sport. The 15’ currently has a 90 Yamaha 2 stroke from 2003 on it. The 15’ also has a welded stainless steel plate that wraps the transom, inside, top of gunnel and outside. Strength isn’t the concern. Weight is. What is the rating for the 15’ ?

If anyone is interested. Selling the 1982 Montauk spring 2022, long island NY. All dolled up full restoration, 2003 Yamaha tho.

Old -

Transom weight limits were not rated/published till post 2010.

The common recommendation is to simulate the new transom weight by adding weight (water is 6#/gal, bags of cement etc) to the splashwell to get to the proposed weight.

It will be then you can see the hull's static trim and how it performs.

BTW - You will take a big hit selling the Montauk without the engine. Bare hulls are ~4-5K or less due to the wait for engines. With the 2003 Yamaha ~ 12-15K.

The Classic 15' models had a MAX HP rating of 70.

A great choice many members go with is the Yamaha F70 at 253 lbs.
