I would fill first with thickened resin. I would use structural filler. Then sand that and then Finnish with gelcoat. Just adding gelcoat would probably crack.

Thanks for the feedback. The fiberglass does not have any deep gouges but it is worn down into it somewhat (few mm?). Based on your response and browsing the TotalBoat site, I'm thinking of using the following 3 products for this repair unless you recommend something different.

1) Fill with TotalFair
2) Prime with TotalProtect
3) Apply Gelcoat with wax

Bill
