I need advice on repairing some damage to the hull. I attached a photo of the damage. The damage is about 8" wide and 3" high. It's a few mm deep but no deep gouges into hull. The cable on my lift snapped and the boat spent a night rocking around the crib. The boat is a 2003 Ventura 160.

Can I repair this with some coats gelcoat only? Do I need to fill/smooth with something first (resin?)? Or maybe use gelcoat with some filler?

Also, any tips products or methods/pitfalls. I've noticed a few different gelcoats mentioned on the forum (in no particular order).
1. Total Boat
2. Spectrum
3. Advance Coatings Company

Thanks,
Bill
