Many members have installed a trolling motor on either the port or starboard bow "pad".

Typical installation includes lag screws or nutserts.

If you have a bow rail, it can be modified to create a hinged section to allow the motor to be deployed or retracted.

Thanks. The plan is to use the bow pad my only concern was it looks like the bow pad on the smirked hull was larger making this an easier task. Looking at the quick release mounts it looks like I can just install the smaller puck to the pad area. My next question is what materials make up the bow pad of my 1974? Wood underneath? Can the mount be screwed into something solid or will a complete hole have to be drilled from the bow pad deck through the bottom of the hull?
