Hi All,

New to the forum. My wife and I live in Massachusetts with our 3 kids (6,8,11). We have a 22 Wellcraft Coastal.

Looking to get a project whaler for our oldest. Something he can start to learn boating but for the first few years by staying near our boat. Looking at either a 13 or 17 project. Any recommendations for this age?

Thanks,

Jared

A 13' is a good starter boat.

Easy to find (pre-covid). Inexpensive.

Does not need much hp. A 20hp to start.

Now as to finding one....be patient.

I'll say finding them is easy. Finding one that you won't take it in the shorts working on isn't .
