Hi all

I recently acquired a 1995 17 Outrage. Under the aft deck plate, I noticed that the ground tab was corroded and the two wires had separated from the tank. The wires themselves appear good, just the tab has corroded.

How do I go about re-attaching these wires to achieve appropriate grounding of the tank? Can I achieve appropriate ground by connecting these to the tank fittings somehow?

Thanks

The two wires are - one from the fuel fill to the tank and the second goes from the tank to the disc anode on the transom.

Off the top of my head I would say wrap it around the tank fill or supply fitting if you can get the wires to reach. You can splice new wire to make up the distance needed. It is something like ~10 gauge marine tinned wire.

I have a corroded disc anode to deal with on my 1992. LOL.

Check the wire......some of my wires showed corrosion deep into the wire itself. I ended up replacing all with tinned wire and heat shrink tinned connectors. If access to the anode is compromised and inaccessible you can connect the tank to the negative of the battery. There should be a negative for the fuel tank sender. I prefer using the anode if possible.
