I just purchased a pretty well refurbed Classic 17 montauk, and I am looking to upgrade the cooler in the bow....among other things. I have gone through some great posts which show the dimensions of some of the newer console configurations, but cannot find the dimensions of the one that I have. Through looking at other posts I have determined that it is the console that was included in Montauks until 1985. No wings, with the throttle at a vertical angle. Does anyone have the dimensions of this console, so I can determine how large a cooler I can fit. I would check the boat myself, but it is shrink wrapped for the season.

I replaced mine as well.
The standard cooler for the Montauk was a Igloo 86 qt. They redesigned the cooler and the current version that fits perfect is the Igloo Marine Series 94qt.
Shop around because prices vary by up to 50%.
A good source/price:

You can get the OEM cooler cushion for this cooler from Anderson's

Walt Reynolds @ Blackduck is highly regarded by owners for his reproduction Whaler parts:

BTW - A big thank you to Finnegan for providing Walter templates for the risers and battery tray.

Thanks so much guys. I should have mentioned that I was looking to upgrade to a bit more of a newer type cooler. Specifically I was looking to buy an RTic cooler, which holds ice free r much longer and are quite a bit more durable. Made at the same plant as Yeti's yet at half the price. That was why I was wondering about the console dimensions. The other complicating factor is that there are no factory made cushions for Rtic's, so I would have to get those made too. I have some good leads on that end though. If anyone has experience installing an RTic cooler too, please speak up. Thx!
