I have a 2000 Dauntless 22 fish package with 4 built in rod holders in the stern in front of the splash well and behind the removable storage box. The screws in the port side rod holder in front of the built in livewell have stripped. My first thought was to remove the screws replace with bolt, nut and washer. However for the life of me I cannot find a way to access this area. The built in livewell is not removable and I cannot reach from the splash well access to the front of the livewell where the rod holder is. Any ideas how to fix correctly? I use these rod holder frequently, especially for grouper trolling. Need them secure.

Thanks,
James

You may end up having to install a small screw in or pop in inspection port large enough for you to use bolts with fender washers or backplate with aluminum or wood. Otherwise upsize the rod holder screws and coat the threads with 5200 as a last resort. Food for thought.......

Instead of 5200, consider drilling out the hole, fill with Marine Tex, level and then tap the hole.
