I am going to look at a
1992 17' Montauk with a 2014 merc optimax. he is asking $ 6500 for the boat. Is this a good price? What should I look for when I go look at it? The motor only has 85 hours on it. Not a merc fan but what do you guys think?

What size might this Mercury motor be?
40hp, 50hp, 60hp, etc.

From looking at pictures here, the boat is a 1991 30th anniversary edition.

If the motor is almost new, you can figure it will be valued a little less than the new 2012 opti I posted. From there it really comes down to the condition of the hull, what accessories it comes with, and if it has a trailer.
$6500 seems fair if it's turn key, even without a trailer.

Thanks from the pics it looks in great condition,Does come with trailer, bimini, Lowrance elite 5 hdi. He only used it a couple times last year since these don't have carbs is there anything I need to worry about. The only problem if I get this I will have to sell my 1972 whaler sakonnet which I love. Are the hulls the same on these 2 boats?
