2005 Conquest 255 stored on dock (in water)

I'm in the process of installing some new electronics and had to drill a 33mm hole in the hull to install the transducer. With the boat on the hard stand I drilled into the "putty / transducer patch" on the port side from underneath the boat. As the hole saw penetrated the outer hull skin water came out of the hole. I grabbed a bucket as I wanted to see exactly how much would drain out. I completed the hole and over the course of the day about 2L of foul smelling water drained out. The dripping has stopped to the odd drop. Of course we all want our BW's to be bone dry but this is my first Boston and it spends it's life in the water so I'm not sure what is generally to be expected when drilling into an 11 year old Whaler?
