Hey guys, this is my first post. I picked up my first boat which was a 2000 Sport 13'. I want to replace the remote side mount throttle control. I know it is probably a Mercury product. I have tried to find the right one but I just cant find an exact match. Can any of you help me figure out the most compatible? Thanks guys. the existing control box has the following;

Power Tilt/trim
5 pin harness to the Tachometer
electric start w/push for the enricher
low oil alarm
controls a 2000 40HP 2 stroke Mercury outboard

The boat is a 2000 Sport 13'

Quadman21,
Most controls for 2 stroke engines have been discontinued by Mercury, Short of buying each replacement part separately and paying a ton of money for the sum of all the parts and having to try to figure out how to assemble them, I believe you will only be able to find used and or rebuilt controls for your engine. I would check with your local Mercury Dealer and see if either your control can be rebuilt or if they have a used one from a outboard trade in or a left over of a recent repower. EBAY is also a good source for used controls. They do make universal controls but I have no experience with them.

Welcome aboard WhalerCentral.

For Clarification!

The newer Super Sport model was not made until 2009.

You have a 2000 Sport 13' model

In 2002, the model name changed to Sport 130

I changed your boat info above so we are all calling the boat the correct name.

Mercury engine controls are readily available from many sources, both new and used. You will have to determine whether your control is Generation I or II, since they use difference cables.

Except for Verados, all Mercs use the same control, whether 2 stroke, Optimax or four stroke, 25-250 HP.

Ebay, as noted, is a good source once you determine what you need. You could also check with BW Customer Service. I'm sure they can tell you what you need and was factroy installed on your boat.
