Hey Everyone:

My Whaler, a 2015 150 Super Sport, came with the standard 6.5 Gallon Moeller portable gas tank. I have considered several options and am going to add a Moeller 3.5 Gallon portable gas tank as a backup. To this I will add the correct Mercury two-prong male connector.

MY QUESTION: Can I make an "extension" gas line to reach from where the existing tank is (under the helmsman's seat) to the other side of the boat? What is the right way to do this?

a) a short length of tubing with two two-prong connectors, male & female, or

b) the tube coming straight outta the tank, with appropriate NPT fitting, with the male two-prong connector on the other end, or

c) neither ... I am playing with fire and should let a professional marine mechanic do this.

I'd like to secure the small gas tank in that location, with a cleat to ride on, and a strap to hold it down (just like the factory tank). The distance needing to be covered is about 30", depending on orientation of the tank and location of the new tank's NPT outlet.

I'm pretty handy and have every tool. Any advice welcomed.
