Hello again. I am looking to have a trailer rebuilt to fit my 1981 Outrage 18. The guy I bought the boat from suggested that I go from the roller system with the large rollers that stand vertically at the back of the trailer to more of a drive on trailer to protect the hull. Was wondering if anyone has the proper fit and function to help me with the rebuild.

Rebuilding a trailer to fit a boat can be expensive, and it will never be right. I would STRONGLY recommend that you will be way ahead by selling the old trailer and buying a new one that fits the boat perfectly.

Since you are in FL, you are lucky. You can buy a Continental galvanized keel roller trailer, (called tilt-frame models) locally, and for an excellent price You have two choices in the CV-8 model - 6'-8" overall width, or 8'-0" overall width. Take your pick. I use Continental exclusively, since i believe they are absolutely the best trailer you can buy and configure for a classic Whaler.

Here is a photo of the Continental trailer I use under my classic Outrage 19.

Note that the cross members are straight, needed for that particular hull. But for the 18 Outrage, you want the "V" cross frame, hence the CV-8 designation. With the 8 doubled up Stoltz 12' keel rollers on SS shafts, the boat will be extremely easy to launch and retrieve. The side bunks (order 2 x 4 x 5') only are for stabilizing the boat laterally on the trailer. They carry no weight. If you want brakes, order the Tie Down G-5 discs.
