I repowered my 1988 Montauk 17 with the Yamaha F70 last month and have had it back in the water for 3 hours running time. I am certainly pleased with the power and speed so far. I am just now able to give it full throttle for brief periods and it's as fast as I want to go in a classic Montauk. My usual load is two adults, fuel, and a large wet dog. If you want more details on the prop and mounting position I will certainly share that with you. The driver for my decision to go with the Yamaha was the number of local dealers for the motor. There are not many Evinrude dealers in this area.
