I have a 2001 Whaler Sport with the standard fiberglass bench seats. I wanted to mount some folding seats with backs and cushions on the benches for comfort. I was thinking of mounting the seats on a standard swivel that would then be attached though the bench with a marine plywood backing plate.

Should I be able to mount virtually any seat I can attach to the swivel mount on the bench ?? I keep seeing a lot of seats that are pedestal mount only apparently. what are my best options ?

Thanks

Joe,
I bought a 2000 BW Sport 13 that had fiberglass bucket seats (Non swivel / not upholstered) in July and took it to the storage lot at Key West Naval Air Station RV park (we live in NC and take our motorhome to KW in Dec each year and stay 3 months...I've not yet had it in the water). I would think you would have no problem with mounting the swivel seats using marine plywood backing with SS bolts.
I was wondering how I could get seating for two more. With the boat in KW, I can't go out and measure to see if I could put a bench seat at the back and not interfere with the motor (when raised).

Joe,
Although I haven't had personal experience, I have seen many 13 foot sports of that hull style using seats the way you explain. One of my friends did the same purchasing his seats from Overton's back about a dozen years ago.
