Hi, I just bought a 27' FC 1987 Whaler Apparently the gas gauge doesn't work. Can anyone tell me how many gallons of gas (estimete) it would take to go 30 nautical miles with two Johnson 2 stroke 200hp motors ? I realize it would be an estimate. I don't know the weight of the boat yet. Does anyone out there own the same type that can tell me what it weighs? The boat is in the Caribbean.

We have that info in our "Whaler Models and Info" section under Reference.

The Full Cabin model appears to have 170 gallon fuel tank and Weighs 5235 lbs.

Those are REALLY thirsty beasts, so I would guess at least 30 gallons, having run similar but slightly newer 150 hp beasts on a 23 WA and achieving about 1.5 mpg. I believe those may be cross flows and not loopers and will get slightly worse mileage than my old 150 loopers with the 3 2-barrel carbs.

The newer single Honda 250 gets right around 3 mpg lightly loaded, so when you repower, I would expect mileage to double with modern fuel injected engines.

Thanks so much for the link. The man who sold it to me said it has one 150 gallon tank and two 75 gallon tanks. How can I know for sure without having to fill them up?

Sorry for the ignorance in this subject since i am a beginner.

Wow! That's bad.

It appears there were 2 options for extra fuel tanks.

1. 140 more gallons
They don't mention how many tanks.

2. 43 more gallons
again, no mention of how many or how large of tanks.

You most likely would have to contact Boston Whaler and ask them how your boat was equipped.
