Hi,

I have recently purchased an old Outrage 22 from 1985 in pretty bad shape.
After repower with an E-tec 225 and rebuilding a new deck, replaced fuel hoses etc I finally got the boat launched.

But I just dont understand how the boat is supposed to drain?
I did installed an automatic drain pump in the live well area. That works fine and will take care of water going into the splashwell.
But how do you solve water going into this area (see attached pic)? Do you keep the thru hull fitting open? it seems to be under water...

I dont like having water in the channel with all hoses, wires from the engine....

Thanks for any input.

Regards
Stefan

There should be a thru-hull drain in the starboard aft bilge pictured. It will be hidden from view as it is slightly under the deck.

If this plug is left out, water will rise to just below the floor level at rest, and drain while underway.

Most of us leave this plug in when in the water, and also have a bilge pump in this well. The boat will self bail with the plug out, but I like yourself prefer to keep the bilge as dry as is possible. (totally dry at all times is not really possible)

A plug and a bilge pump along with an automatic float switch is the typical setup,
