Garris is referring to the trim tab anode on the lower unit.

The tab helps counteract the rotational forces of the prop turning. Typically the tab is angled slightly.

Stand behind the boat, facing forward and look straight down to the ground. If the tab is straight, it is at the 6 o'clock position. Most adjust the tab to ~ 5 o'clock or less.

Is the boat level (side-to-side) at rest/anchor. If not, shift some weight.

Also note that side winds will have an affect on lateral trim.
