Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Scupper raise?

So I have the opportunity to get a free set of 150 hp yamahas. These are 4 strokers and only 2 years old. (I have a wealthy buddy nice enough to donate them to me as he has repowered) The boat is a 1994 outrage with twin 130s 2 smokers and one is blown. It's a heavy boat. It is rated for 300 hp but 150s would be 200lbs more in the back. Considering they are free, I was thinking of spending the money and having a fiberglasser raisi the scuppers an 1.5in. Anybody ever raise the scuppers on a whaler? Transome and sides

Expensive and probably not needed. Plus it would mean more water over the decks when it comes aboard. If the replacement engines sink the scuppers consider moving some weight forward.

To help simulate the added weight of the 4 stroke motors and the new boat trim, place additional weight in the stern and observe.

I'm surprised to learn the Outrage 21 has a 300 HP rating. If that's correct, then a free set of newish Yamaha 150 fourstrokes would be hard to pass up, in my opinion.
Using the method PhilT described above, you should be able to get an approximate idea of how the boat will sit with the extra weight. You will probably need to redistribute other weight in the boat as Butch suggested.

After doing some weight experiments there is no way I could use the 150s. I guess I must decide between 115 yams 140 suzukis 135 e-Tecs or Mercs ..,,,ugh Mercs ......
