On our Sport 13 we use a couple of plastic milk crates. One is for things we always use while on the boat. The second has gear we use only while fishing. Most of our use of the boat is for cruising and piddling around so having the fishing specific gear on board only for fishing allows us some extra room most of the time.
Our emergency power (paddle) stows very nicely between the side rail and the console and is held in snugly by the steering cable.
