Hey there,
i just bought a 1981 17 Montauk. Can you tell me how heavy it should be? It is only the hull with side and frontrails. No console, seat or engine.

Thanks. My Hull is about 880 pounds. With no console and no seat. Do you know how heavy is the console and the seat? Is there water in my boat?

Today i know my hull is only 780 Pounds. (wrong weight of trailer)
Is that ok?
Is nobody here who knows the weight of his hull?

Boston Whaler did not typically sell bare hulls so published weights are not available.

Published weights for the various models, same hull different interiors, range from 850 lbs. to 950 lbs.

Actual weights of the classic Boston Whaler hulls varied, sometimes greatly, since they were built by hand with hand laid fiberglass and resin. There were slight variations in the layup or thickness of the fiberglass.

Today's models are built with machines and automated methods that are consistent.

What scale are you using to get the weight and are you converting from metric?

Thanks for your reply. Yes i´m converting from metric. it´s 350 kilogramms.
I used a scale for trucks.
I hoped that some guys know the true weight of their monthauk. Not the weight from the catalogue. Because i´m not sure if they are right.

are you weighing just the hull or both the hull and trailer. If both, that explains why you are 100 lbs under the published weight. Any change you can launch the boat and weigh just the trailer?

My 1987 was 90 lbs over. Some of it was most likely due to water in the hull.

Almost no one knows the weight of 'just' their Montauk hull.

Most people have fuel, and fuel tanks, battery, Oil, and many other possible items in their boat.

Can you weigh just your console separately and then your RPS seat separately?
Add those to your hull weight and you will have the weight of your standard equipped Montauk.

The Standard configuration for a Montauk includes the RPS, Console, and Rails in the weight of 900 pounds.
Again, all Montauk will vary.

No boat will weigh the same as Phil points out above.
So knowing the weight of someone else's Montauk won't really help you that much.
The weight for the catalogs will give you a general idea.

780 is only the weight of the boat. No trailer.
I understand, every monthauk is different. the problem is, i have no RPS seat and console. So i can not put them on a scale. I try to hang on a picture.
I´m asking about the weight because i want to know is there water inside. The drain tube was bad. and wenn i removed the tube from the boat, the boat was wet inside the hole.

Is the boat you are weighing on your personal page? If not add a photo your personal page.
