This boat has a well in the after deck with two plugs, one in the bottom aft wall that is connected to the aft wet (splash?) well and one in the starboard side that drains out the bottom of the boat.

Can someone explain what this well is intended for and how it should be configured both while docked and underway.

Thanks!

Sounds similar to my 1989 22" Outrage cuddy. I plug the bottom drain as it allows the cavity to fill when at rest. I do not plug the rear hole as I have a ping pong style one way drain that prevents splash well water from entering.

I also installed a bilge pump but rarely use it. With my set up you could leave it in the water and rain would drain to the splash well. Mine is lift kept so I could leave bottom plug out also.

Hope this helps.

It was intended as a bait well. I have both plugs in all the time. Rain and spray will get into it, I keep anchor, manual bilge pump. extra fenders, stuff i do not mind will get wet, in there. I manually pump it dry when needed.
