Hi. I came across a 1961 16 Eastport for sale, in what I would describe as fair condition. Some minor fiberglass dings and dents but no soft spots or major issues that I can tell. It's kind of a barn find in western PA. Motor is a 1974 Johnson 90hp that looks like some small animals were living in the engine cowling. Fiberglass is chalky white (white dust comes off on your hand) inside actually still has a sheen. Mahogany console in sub fair condition. Any idea what a boat like this should sell for? I'm up for a restoration just want to make sure the price is in the ballpark.
Any advice is appreciated.

Pictures? What's the price? I had a 1969 13 ' with a 1978 Johnson 35hp, she ran great after I got all of the film build up out of the carb, pulled the carb off and cleaned it like 10 times! lol, everything ran great after that! Check the compression.

We picked a Nauset up in similar condition to what you described with a undersized trailer, good running Johnson 85HP engine (maybe mid 1970's), hull was not waterlogged, but was very beat with a few soft spots in he deck for about $1200, granted this was about 5 years ago.

The boat was in use at a summer camp until we purchased it.

I pretty much agree with DoubleU. Here is my logic, however it may be flawed in others opinions. A cosmetic restoration, decent new trailer, and a little work on the motor, (if you are lucky), will mean you probably have $4-5000 in costs when you are done. Add that to $1000-$1500 max purchase price as it sits right now and you will be in it for up to $6500.00 for a boat with original power. I know this boat is more rare, but I regularly see older 17 foot Montauks for sale that have been repowered within the last couple of years for the $7000-$9000 range.

Hi Guys. Thanks for the replies. Ended up paying $2300. Boat/Motor/Trailer/Complete Mahog Interior/Complete Cover. Boat is very tired but 100% unmolested. I'm in this for the project aspect and bringing it back to close to its former glory. Started replacing fuel lines and steering cables and slowly bringing this motor back to life. Having a blast.
