I have a 1972 Montauk that has been sitting in the sun for a while. The entire deck has spider cracks from the sun.
I want to know if the boat is safe to put on the water prior to my restoration..
I also have read about people putting Line-X/Kiwi Grip/ Tuff-Grip on boat decks.. Is this a good option to fixing a deck? any recommendation on product to use?
Also what is the process to apply.. apply on top? or do I have to sand the entire deck? I have read of both ways..
THANKS!

Spider cracks on the deck do not affect the seaworthiness of the hull. Put the hull in water as is and see how it floats before you start any work.

Nick,
Look at my personal page. That little 11 sport was a wreck and full of spider cracks. It was beautiful and no one even noticed it was LineX unless I mentioned it first. Prep and application is everything. I would do it again in a minute.

Correct it has a wooden center console so it is a Nauset! Thanks! Any major difference in the boat ? I'm new to Boston whalers .. Is this a quality boat when sound .. For inshore sat water fishing .. It has a 1989 Johnson VRO 110

The first whaler I got was a 1969 13', Awl-grip proved to work very well to fill in spider cracks as well as restore a somewhat original color to the deck.
