Hi
I'm going to look at an loder 13' Whaler this weekend.
How do i tell if its a good one?
What should I be looking for?
WHat to watch out for?

This Whaler has a new 30 Merc with 20 hours on it, so not worried about the power plant just the rest of the deal.
Thanks in advanced.

Looks pretty good to me. Those boats last forever. I would check for any holes in the boat that weren't sealed.

If the person cared enough to invest in a new 30 HP outboard chances are the boat is worthy of the motor. If the boat looks sound and the wood is in good condition, I would buy it.

Chatted to the guy. He is the third owner and the engine crapped out on him 3 Miles down river. So we bought this new old stock 30 merc as a replacement. It's actually a 1999!
We says it has 12-15 hours on it and he replaced all the fluids when we got it.
Hull is a 1981, so hope its solid.

I'd try to take it for a spin first.
Our 30hp Suzuki 2-stroke was fun on a stripped down early 13.
That boat looks like it has every accessory,
and 4-strokes aren't known for their hole-shot.

Not sure if 5k is a great deal,
there are a few down here that are stagnating in that price range,
but if you like it ,
you like it!

How about the trailer? The engine MAY be new with low hours or may not be, but regardless, ir is an OLD engine with who really knows how many hours. Have the engine checked out, compression, etc before buying. If the trailer is in good condition and the engine is excellent I would offer $4K and pay as much as $4.5K.
