For years I have considered aluminum props to be an ounce of prevention for lower unit damage. I recently read here that this, for the most part, is myth. I would like to hear some confirmation on this issue as I would love to install stainless props but don't relish stocking up on Yamaha lower units. Thanks for the insight.

I used aluminum props until I got tired of having them repaired. That was in 1978. I've used stainless props since, about 38 years. I've never had to have a stainless steel prop repaired and I've never had any lower unit repairs.

Performance and fuel economy aside I am hundreds of $$ ahead.
