Not to me. That's a lot of money to spend on a project boat this size.

My question is why doesn't he just get the job done if it will only take a $3K investment to complete the restoration?
You could call his bluff and offer him $6K for the completely restored boat. But at a projected $6K investment, I'd be shopping around and seeing what is available in the $6-8K asking price range in my area.

Then again, if you are set on this Whaler and you don't mind investing significant sweat equity, this may be an option for you. But I would still offer less than he is asking.
