Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Revenge 25 hull ride

I have owned a 1972 sourpuss 13 and a 1968 Nauset. I currently have a older 21' Ray Hunt designed deep -V hull (Hiliner Sportsman) and I am honestly dissapointed in the ride. It is a runabout with forward sit down seating and I'm starting to think that standing when steering and being farther aft in a boat (when steering) has as much to do with the percieved "ride" as the hull design.

I want to go bigger 24-26ft and after riding in and looking at other boats I always seem to come back to the quality of Boston Whaler. My wife would like to sit behind a windsceen and have at least a port-a-potty. I am seriously thinking about the Revenge 25 but don't want to drop more $ and be dissappointed as this next boat is probably my last.

I would love to hear from anyone with time in this hull. I've read all I can find about the Revenge 22 (mostly favorable) but little on the 25... is it significantly better /different? How does it ride in small bay chop ...offshore in bigger waves and chop.

I would use it mostly inside Narragansett Bay with ocassional runs to Block Island and Cutty Hunk. My best scenario wuold be to find a solid hull the needs repower and put a new fourstroke on.

I do not have experience with the 25, but can't say enough good things about my 1985 22 Revenge WT.

There is currently a 25 on Boston Craigslist, you might want to contact the owner & see if you can go for a sea trial.

Good luck

I wish the ad had a picture of the interior of the cabin. That looks like a mini cuddy on a 25' which includes the porta potty. The 25' Revenges I have seen usually have a mini kitchen with the larger cabin. The deck space on that hull looks terrific. I own a 1979 22' Revenge (you know the virtues of that hull) but have been a guest once on the larger cabin 25' Revenge. No bad weather and nice ride. If I was looking for a 25', I would go with the hull pictured. My only disappointment with the full size cuddy was deck space. Not a whole lot more than the 22' series.

I do not have experience with the 25, but that looks like a pretty good deal. Use it, fix it up, and re-power when needed in the future.

Hey thanks so much for the reply's, we have thought about the Revenge 22 but it doesn't seem a big enough move up.
I was thinking more displacement and longer waterline would give a better ride. Interesting to hear the 25's extra size is in the interior and not more cockpit space (vs a 22). that actually is ok because it moves the helm aft

The 25's also have a walk around series with a little less interior space starboard and port sides. Kinda unusable space and I would prefer it over the full cabin.

I have a 1987 25' Revenge with twin 200's in Allen's Harbor of Narragansett Bay. I take it weekly to Block Island, rides nice. Be happy to take you out in the spring if you are still looking.

The ride of an Outrage/Revenge 22 is amazing compared to a 17' model. It increases the ride quality significantly. 2' ers are no problem.

A Outrage/Revenge 25 is another big step up from a 22.

I took a ride with Newt in a Revenge 25 out and around Cape Ann, MA in October and was so amazed at the ride.

His boat is shown at the end of this album:
