Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Nauset Condition & Value

I'm looking at a 1971 Nauset. The boat appears to be in good condition, but none of the interior is original. It all appears custom/homemade. The asking price is $5800. The outboard is a 1989 Evinrude 90. Located in inland northwest, so has likely been freshwater for the recent history.

I would hope to bring some of the interior back up to BW standards. Not necessarily a correct restoration.

Any major concerns? What would be considered a fair offer?

It's a few hundred miles away from me, so I have not been able to get my eyes on it, and I am not sure it is worth the trip yet.

Thanks for any input.

Given it's non-standard interior, it is not a Nauset, rather a 16 Custom.

Given photos, I would pay close attention to the hull and any damage, holes and cracks to allow water seepage.

Is there a trailer?

I would be aggressive in negotiating.

Thanks, Phil. Good info. Trailer is included. Painted, not galvanized, I believe.

Price seems high by maybe $1000, totally depends on engine. I like the rear bench seat, but keep anyone that weighs over 75# from sitting there while underway. It will kill the ride angle.
I own a 1964 and 1966 of this boat and love them. They are great in coastal bays and the ocean but they will beat you in short chop of a large bay, in my case the Chesapeake.

Thanks, mtown. Very helpful. We'll be on the Puget Sound, where we always keep an eye on the wind before heading out.
