Hello to all,
I am the proud new owner of a 1968 13' Whaler. This whaler belonged to my wife's grandfather on Cape Cod. I have been watching it sit unused for over 20 years. Every year I have asked what is the plan for the boat. There was always a plan. None happened. Now the boat will be on its way to going back on the water!!!!

I have never restored a boat so I have much to learn. The question I ponder the most is which engine to choose. This boat has the lower transom and is a 15". I would like to put on the largest new 4 stroke that would not swamp the boat. The boat would primarily be used for two people fishing. WE would not ski behind this boat. I have read that some people restore these boats and increase the transom size to 20" I would rather restore to the original condition. And not modify. I do believe that I would want to add a telefax steering. Your thoughts.

Any other thoughts or resources would be of great help. I also need to get the boat from Cape Cod to Florida. Any ideas on shipping. It has no trailer at this point.
