When my mechanic re-powered and re-rigged my boat, they replaced the original mahogany with pressure-treated lumber. I agree with Jeff that it is not the most cherry choice, but functional for now. When they asked me if it was OK to use the lumber I was too anxious to wait for mahogany to be ordered. I wanted my boat back!!

Is there any reason why this decision was a bad one? Other than looks?
