Minor question:

2006 Montauk rubrail.
It looks a little dry.

What kind of protectant should I apply?
Is it similar enough with automotive rubber, that auto products would be safe to use?

One could apply a Armor-all or similar but it will not last long.

Armor-all is not, IMO, a good protectant. It will ultimately damage some plastics and rubber.

I recommend 303 Protectant spray. It's available in most marine stores and on-line. Pricey but very effective and over all a good value.
