Need to replace rub rail on 1979 Newport 17, mine is a 2 part rub rail with red insert, i know that the red insert is not available, but when i look at the Ones available at specialty marine, they say they are 3 part OEM, will this fit on the Newport, do I only install 2 of the 3 parts,

I think I was not clear in my post, my current rub rail only has two parts, the fixed rail and the insert, and as far as I know it is original to the boat.

The original OEM is a hard plastic piece with a slightly softer piece and then the insert. My guess is that your RR is not original. Cheers
