Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Front Platform for Sakonnet

I have a 1967 Sakonnet (16 foot). The boat was originally bought by my father with a 55HP 4 cycle Homlite engine. I have had the boat completely re-gelcoated. I have replaced the center console once and now I'm in the process of replacing the center console again. The elevated front deck and pilot seat were gone a long time ago. I want to replace that deck this renovation. Does anyone have a drawing or good picture of that front deck?

I know this is expensive and probably cost more than the boat is worth to anyone but me.

Take a look at the Navigation Bar at the top of the site.
Look under "Maps" and go to Site Map.
http://www.whalercentral.com/infusion...te_map.php

Then scroll down to Downloads and look for "Front Casting Platform for Sakonnet"

While you are there, take a look at other things that might be of interest to you.

My wife fell this past year and is struggling getting in and out of our 1980 Montauk 17 ft
I think building a deck from the anchor Locker the end of the center console would help her, but I can't find a plan for the deck.
Can you move me in the right direction?
Thanks

Jerry,

Sorry to hear about your wife.

You can build something like this from the plans in our Download section. These plans may need modifying for your newer model however.
Scroll down to "Front Casting Platform for Sakonnet" here:
http://www.whalercentral.com/download...?cat_id=13

You can also look for the one designed for you model which was fiberglass with teak hatches.
There were two versions.
1. 1973-1975

2. 1976 and later
Slightly different then above due to the newer smirked bow of this newer hull design.

There is a U tube video that someone made where he shows the construction of that front platform on a early Sakonnet.

Hello Bill,
I was planning on building my casting platform, but ended up buying it from Bob “Latourelle Wooden Boat” in Haverhill MA – 978-837-8808. You can check out my Personal Page for pictures. When doing the research, I picked up some nice CAD drawing from Ward Grafton at his web site: http://arcshark3d.wix.com/ol-blue-66ol-blue-66 - There’s a little more detail in his drawings.
Good luck
-Mike

I would have Bob up in Havehill build it as well. He rebuilt an RPS and a console base for me last year. Very good work, good price, good man.

Thanks everyone for the help, but I could never find a good picture of the support system for the deck, so I made my own. I didn't want to screw it into the hull, so I built the support deck to be free standing and it worked our great. I made my neighbor walk on it first, he's about 280, so it will hold me.
