just bought a 1974 outrage hull #00860 can anyone give me any info on it and all the non-skid was removed is the Kiwigrip a good way to go?

I used Kiwi Grip on both my 19 and 25 restorations. It's a good product, it adheres to the fiberglass well, it's a good non slip, and you can play around with going white or a complimenting color. I went white on the 19 and it's a good match for the bright white gel coat, the 25 I used the tan over the bright white gel coat. I actually prefer the white on white and may eventually change the 25.
What I've noticed is that it won't stand any scraping action from deck chairs sliding or anything with a sharp edge. When applied thick, with a high texture, it's hard to clean, but a thin coat heavily rolled out provides good traction, and an easy to clean surface. The downside is you need to go white on white.

Can you confirm the stencil is 00860
If so, that should make it a 1973 year model according to our info.

Why would you spray over your OEM numbers that prove the provenance of your boat?

hi Joe,
I confirmed the 00860 with whaler and they confirmed the serial #BWCA9567M74G and was built at the Norwell, Mass facility 4/15/1974 and was sold to Scottys marine in Point Lookout,LI, NY. I took all of the info with photos to the tag office and got a clean title for the boat. Thanks for your input and I'll get photo's of the rebuild.

Yes, I talked to Boston Whaler about this hull also.
This hull was actually built in mid to late 1972 from the Stencil number.
Most hulls during those days sat on the lot and did not get an HIN number until the boat was shipped.
Your hull either sat on the lot or was used for demonstrating or engineering purposes etc. before it eventually got its HIN tag about 2 years after being built.

Your stencil number is actually right after 00856 in this list but your HIN is much later.

This hull is the winner for staying in Boston Whalers possession before getting an HIN tag that I have seen.
That is why it is always good for the members to give us both the stencil and HIN numbers.
Gives us more information knowledge to deal with.
