Im looking for some advice. I bought a 2000 dauntless 14 this summer. I mounted rod holders on the rails but found they were not nice to my mooring cover. So i am abandoning the rail mounts and looking into other options. One option im leaning to mounting a tube style on the gunnel. I've been told there is some special backing material whalers have thats very strong that i could drill/tap for the mounting plates. Is this true and how can i find out where this is located at?
