Hi,

a friend of mine is interrested by a Sentry that is listed locally (http://www.kijiji.ca/v-bateau/laval-r...nFlag=true (sorry, the ad is in French)) but there's a couple of red flags and I have a few questions for you.

The seller doesn't seems to know much about boats nor Whalers. He bought the boat (a retired cop patrol boat) at an auction 2 years ago and didn't use it much since.

It is listed as a 2005 21 Sentry but has the classic smirked hull, not the Accutrak hull, so I was pretty sure it was older. I called the seller (haven't seen the boat in person yet) and, with the HIN, finally learn that it's a 1992 model year.

For the lenght, it seems to me that this model is the CPD version of the Revenge 22, is this right? If so, being rated for a max of 240hp, won't it be grossly under-powered with a 150hp?

The transition years for Evinrude to the E-Tec models being 2004-2006, depending of the hp range, is a 2005 150hp really an E-Tec or a Ficht RAM (I ask because there's no visible E-Tec stickers on the cowling)?

For the 220 hours on the engine, the seller says he made a guesstimate based on an average of 25 hours a year! I asked for the EMM report and he didn't even know it can be done, but said the boat itself has 900 hours! When I asked him how he could know that, he said there's an hourmeter but that it is original to the boat! I thought that it probably was installed with the 2005 T-Tec, 100hrs/years (900hrs on a 9yrs engine) being more realistic for a police patrol boat. He also said it has a heavy-duty gearcase?

Anyways, I asked him to send me a pic of the capacity plate and also the survey that was done this spring so maybe I'll learn more but if you have any comments, feel free to share.

Thanks.
