The grey line you speak of is marine/sun rated. A friend of mine used it and the walls are somewhat flimsy (squeeze it with your fingers) . He works for the for Water District and replaced it for their boats because siphon from the fuel draw crimped the tubing. I (and he) are installing marine grade motor fuel intake black hose.
