Hi I have a 1986 Outrage 18'. I am outfitting it for marine use and would like to install a horn. I am not a big fan of cutting or drilling conspicuous locations.
So I am wondering if anyone has tried mounting a compact horn unit inside one or both side panels. The ones under the gunwales mid boat - they cover the fuel inlet hose on one side and the lamp wires on the other. Seems to me that running wires to these locations would be easy.
But I am wondering how effective this location be? Seems it might be louder inside the boat than out?
My other idea was to mount a trumpet to one of the rails above the console.

I had one but never used it so now I just carry a whistle.

Placing the horn on the inside panels will seem extremely loud to you but outside the boat, not so much! How about mounting one or two to the bottom portion of the shepherds hook railing in front of the console?
