I have a 1966 16" custom,

1999 Johnson 50hp, aluminum prop with some dings and gouges in it, 14.5x something, ill look later.

Mounted in blind holes (I know, i didn't want to drill new holes yet, as I rigged this motor myself, first time, sealed with silicone as I planned on moving it someday 2 or 3 holes up when I can get a SS prop.)

Following load:

I have a fiber glass center console with no wood in it.
Carolina skiff FF cooler seat.
1 battery in the stern
I had 1 6 gallon gas tank full in the stern with 50:1 pre mix.
1 anchor and chain in the front locker.
I had storage box with 1/2 gallon of oil and some random stuff.
2 rods, tackle box, 2 5 gallon buckets, 1 6 ft rad cast net.
1 cooler with ice and water
Myself I weigh 165lbs.

It was just me.

I got up to 25mph against the current ~3mph current,

however I was not full throttle, I didn't get to trim it out, or let the gps catch up.

I got the alarm for overheating almost instantly after going on plane and the hull slowing coming down to level out.

So based on posts here, so far in the blind holes with that setup i think I could get close to 30mph being in the blind holes, with the junk prop (dinged up) by myself.

I feel good with the speed it got up on plane, a bit faster then my brother 2001 whaler 13 sport with a merc 40 hp 2 stroke.

As Ifigure out the overheat issue, I will take it out with current setup on prop and see how she does.

I have a tach, but I think its junk. Idle says its around 1100, but mechanic used timing gun on it, said its 850 rpm. So I may not really push it opem, as I dont want to over rev it.

What is top rev for this 5500 or 6000?

Same conditions as forst run during over heat.

33Mph with current
31.9Mph against current.

Gps.

Rpm is wrong as my tach is bad.
PRop still don have numbers off it sorry.

Not bad to me, conaidering its in the blind.holes all.tye way down.

Now, the real thing to me was fhe ride.

Amazing. Nasty in the river today with 30mph winds, not gusts. We have a weak trop storm off jax, about 100 milea been.giving us bad weather.

Glad to hear you got the engine problem solved.

If you are happy with the performance now...you are going to be very pleased when you raise your engine and get a good stainless prop.

I got a "tiny tach" and it works very well, I think it was less than $50. I will ship you mine if you will return it when your finished.

Thats very kind, was it designed for 2 stroke, 2 cylinder? Or does it not matter? Whats shipping cost 5 bucks?

I looked up tiny tacs. They r sweet. You can even.request a long wire N place it on your cc.

Would be nice to know, what rpm im getting while full throttle.

Thats going to be my next post, could i over rpm this motor with 12 and 1/4 by 14 aluminum prop? I dont run wot except to test the top speed. I drive around dping 25 mph. My tac says like 5800 at the time.
