Has anyone ever seen an 1988 Montauk with a dual console? We looked at one today and are trying to figure out how to add teak to the boat as this one only had fiberglass… I'd LOVE pictures!

(please follow guideline #1 on the front page and use the full 4 digit year for everything)

No such thing.

A Montauk came with a certain arranged interior.
The interior makes the model.

Here are Montauk 17' models.

If it doesn't look like anything below, then it is a "Custom" model.

Thanks! It must be a custom…

There are only a couple of models that have fiberglass dual consoles.

Sport GLS (1990-1992)

Super Sport Limited (1986-1990)

It could be a 16' SL and not a Montauk.

Many sellers do not know the proper model name for their item.

Except that 16SL models didn't start until 1991. Of course, if they don't know the model they might not have the year right either.

You guys are AMAZING! I'm pretty sure it is a Super Sport Limited! It looks JUST like the second picture you posted, Joe! Now to see if I can find bow cushions! Thanks so much for your help!

Do you think we can add teak/wood anywhere? The only thing missing is that lovely Whaler teak!

A Boston Whaler Rockland, MA factory worker now retired told me that the BW17 Super Sport Limited model was designed specifically as a result of customer changing preferences, circa mid-late 1980's: Boston Whaler owners wanted more storage space and less maintenance issues associated with teak or mahogany wood. The Super Sport Limited has lots of storage space. And it has just 2-3 pieces of mahogany wood that are used as deck and hatch supports, not display items.

If you are looking for cushions for the 17 Super Sport Limited, I recommend you contact Anderson Manufacturing, in Titusville, FL. They can make you a complete set of OE spec cushions e.g., parchment with brown piping, for the SSL model. Anderson manufactured cushions are very well made and last many years.

Could we replace the bow/anchor locker cover with a teak model? Ours needs to be attached with some hinges or something- it slides off every time we are coming to plane!

You can install a teak anchor hatch cover. Just make sure you buy the right size. Specialty Marine sells a varnish teak cover for about $155 delivered.

The BW17 The Super Sport Limited model came with an all fiberglass hatch that did not have hinges. BW installed a shock cord with two eyelets to hold it in place. Install a new shock cord if yours is missing.
